ABOUT SAN DIEGO DESIGN WEEK
San Diego Design Week is an annual five-day celebration of design featuring presentations, studio tours, workshops, and self-guided tours hosted by groups throughout the binational design community of San Diego-Tijuana. Programs feature all disciplines of design — from interior and landscape design, to fashion, graphic design, technology, and more.
Design at its core is collaborative, interconnected, experimental, and holds the potential to shift perspectives and imagine new possibilities. After a year of deep reflection and changes in the way we work and live, we’re exploring the power of design in action — to rethink, transform, and renew — as we envision a path forward.

ABOUT THE INSTALLATION
This year for @sddesignweek (Sept 8-12) drop into The Hill Street Country Club in Oceanside or You Belong Here in City Heights to experience immersive Augmented Reality installations for The House of Resilience.
Designed and produced by Chitra Gopalakrishnan these pieces carry the voices and stories of inspirational trans women of color within our community. At each venue there will be a limited edition risograph print posters (designed by @chitragopala, printed by @issuepress) and beautifully branded merchandise by The House of Resilience.
This is a fundraiser that supports @thehouseofresilience’s efforts to sustainably support the trans communities in San Diego and Tijuana (Venmo, Paypal or Credit Card payments accepted).

ABOUT THE ARTIST, CHITRA GOPALAKRISHNAN
Chitra Gopalakrishnan is a graphic designer and painter whose work explores the subject of motherhood and lived experiences of womanhood as it exists in America today. Gopalakrishnan has dual MFAs in Graphic Design from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan and from ESAG Penninghen in Paris. She is also a design faculty at San Diego State University.
